ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI PRAYER WALK St. Francis of Assisi is a most popular saint in these Northwoods, which abounds with the surrounding beauty and wildlife. A strong Franciscan presence, especially the Marywood/Franciscan Spirituality Center on the shores of Trout Lake and the Secular Franciscans at Holy Family, help make St. Francis feel especially at home! The prayer walk is situated to the northeast of the parish complex and consists of 10 different meditation stations. These aspects of the life of Francis speak forcefully to the church and contemporary culture. They cover such topics as respect for creation, the Prayer of S. Francis, Francis and the Muslims, the call of Francis to renew the church, the spirit of poverty. Francis often stepped away from daily life to refocus at various hermitages. There is a small hermitage along the walk for day use.
