Stations of the Cross

Dear Holy Family,

As we approach Lent, I hope you’ll consider joining us for one or more of our weekly Stations of the Cross.  Starting March 1, Jason and I will lead Stations at 6PM each Wednesday during Lent.

The Stations of the Cross, also known as the Way of the Cross, commemorate Jesus's passion and death on the cross. There are 14 stations that each depict a moment on his journey to Calvary, usually through sacred art, prayers, and reflections. The practice began as pious pilgrims traced his path through Jerusalem on the Via Dolorosa. Later, for the many who wanted to pass along the same route, but could not make the trip to Jerusalem, a practice developed that eventually took the form of the fourteen stations currently found in almost every church throughout the world.

Holy Family is blessed with a wonderful and beautiful Stations of the Cross pilgrimage that encircles the rear of our worship area.  Participants can choose to make the pilgrimage or remain in the pew.

Never attended Stations of the Cross before?  No worries!  We’ll provide a worship aide so that you may easily follow along for the 20 minutes or so.

If you’re looking for something by which to offer up your Lenten sacrifice, perhaps attending Stations of the Cross is calling you.
